The Health Care
Electrician™
- 2nd Edition
From
the publishers of Healthcare Engineering Network, MGI Systems would
like to introduce THE Health Care Electrician
– 2nd Edition.
The electrician working in
today’s healthcare facility: what does s/he need to know? With the
pace of technical advancements and the changing nature of patient
care, the electrician faces the tough challenge of staying abreast of
these changes, as well as ensuring that their work meets the standards
specific to the health care facility.
THE Health Care
Electrician answers the need; this training manual was developed
specifically for electricians who work in healthcare facilities. The
Healthcare Electrician is a comprehensive guide to help electricians
understand what takes place in health care facilities that is
different from other occupancies, and to make them conversant in
factors critical to maintaining a safe environment for themselves, for
the patients being treated, and for medical and nursing staff. The
Healthcare Electrician is also written for facility directors who must
ensure compliance to the educational requirements imposed by all
authorities having jurisdiction, as well as maintain the integrity of
the utility management plan.
Since the first edition,
released in 1998, standards and regulations have changed. The second
edition of THE Health Care Electrician covers all applicable
standards and regulations of the 2005 editions of NFPA 70, 70E, 99, 101,
110, 111 and OSHA electrical safety regulations.
It cannot be emphasized
enough that electricians - those men and women who install wiring, replace
light bulbs, connect 1000 amp circuits, and check out “why there is no
power in room 503,” are very much a part of the ‘electrical linkage’
within a health care facility - a linkage that makes so much of modern
medicine possible.
THE Health Care
Electrician is the comprehensive guide to learning the ins and outs of
compliance issues unique to the healthcare facility. With this course you
will have an approved method to:
- Untangle the confusion
of healthcare standards
- Ensure JCAHO & OSHA
compliance in electrical utility system maintenance
- Acquire the confidence
of knowing how to guarantee patient safety
