EPA Requesting Information on Stationary Diesel Engines – Hospitals Could Be Affected

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking comment on several issues concerning its rulemaking options under the Clean Air Act to regulate emissions of pollutants from existing stationary diesel engines and, more specifically, from larger, older stationary diesel engines that have not been subject to federal standards, states a January 24, 2008, Federal Register notice.

Emergency power generators in hospitals may utilize such engines, states the notice. Comments are due February 25, 2008.
